Hey guys and gals. Need some more help please. I have the following kit
Asus 170 pro gaming
6700k
32gb gskill 3000mhz ddr 4 (in a kit of 4) 15-15-15-35 I think are timings.

Goin by the videos I watched and looking on here I should be able to do a basic clock with these bits. But for love nor money i can't get it to work. As soon as I enable xmp mode the pc crashes then comes up overclock failed. So I tried putting all in manual instead. Same thing. I can overclock the CPU to 4500 no issues on its own. The ram in the bios says running at 2132mhz I think. In cpuz it says the same. Then a friend told me cause it's ddr is doubles? But that would leave it way overclocked. I updated bios. Made no difference. Only thing I can see is maybe the ram not compatible with my setup?

Thanks in advance.

Try adding a bit of voltage to the memory controller (IDK what its called on skylake / your board, but we called it system agent (sa) on devils canyon)

Yea sorry should have done that before. Gskill DDR4 RIPJAW 3000mhz 32gb kit. It's 4 sticks of 8gb, thought if I bought the pack It would be more compatible. Going by packaging it says 3000mhz at 1.35v but still no joy at that voltage. And honestly I don't want to tweak the wrong numbers or settings.

Ok guys a little update, I was able to successfully run xmp mode if i clock the ram to 2800mhz with upping the ram a 1.325v but it will not for love nor money run at 3000mhz, perhaps I have to settle for that?

I have indeed mate as stated in comment #5. Not sure how to proceed if I'm honest. The computer has stayed rock solid all day since I got it to at the above 2800. But will not work at 3000. Unless I'm missing something really simple.

BTW thanks anyone who's trying to help. It really is appreciated.
