Hey all, just looking for some advice.

I'm seeing lots of bsods since doing a fresh install on a new machine, things like page_fault_in_non_paged_area and memory_management. Sometimes no bluescreen and games just close without any error.

I'm running memtest86, and inconsistently seeing errors. Here's what I've tried:

With xmp
1. Both sticks (2-a, 2-b), 1000+ errors.
2. Single stick in 2-a, no errors.
3. Other stick in 2-a, 10+ errors.
4. Moved previously erroring stick into 2-b, no errors.
5. Tried both sticks again, 1000+ errors.

XMP disabled
6. Both sticks, 0 errors.

I have this setup:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
MSI B550 gaming edge WiFi
Patriot viper steel (2x16gb) 32gb 3600 pvs432g360c8k

Those parts above are all brand new,

also transferred these from my old rig:
EVGA 550 g2
Gigabyte G1 Gtx 970
HDD (Barracuda I think, can't remember the specs)
Samsung 870 1tb SSD

So my question here is, am I potentially having issues with the memory here, and need to return to overclockers? (I discarded the packaging already, not sure if that will affect a return request if I can't prove there's a fault)

Or Is this maybe a PSU problem? Someone on another thread suggested I get a new PSU with it being a new machine...maybe they were right?

The Patriot 3600 kit strikes again. This is about the 6th time on this forum in the past few months I've read of people not being able to run it. An easy return.

Cheers @GregI Just found the previous posts, don't know why I didn't look ahead of time!

Explains why it was on sale  - will see if I can sort a return and get a name I know this time around....

yeh as said...send it back and get this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...zen-tuned-ddr4-memory-dual-kit-my-4cl-cs.html i have it running fine with xmp on b550-f strix gaming and 5600x

I ended up going Crucial, I didn't really "need" 32gb, I just saw the 32GB kit on sale so thought why the hell not. Now I know why not

Also an additional thing I noticed with the old Patriot kit... I was hearing a clicking sound coming from the MB. I had thought it was due to heat as it would only start happening during intensive tasks...like playing games (witcher 3 for example) and running a benchmark on 3D mark. It would also click several times after turning the machine off, which I assumed was cooling...sounded almost like metal expanding/contracting.

This clicking stopped when I disabled XMP, and no more blue screens or game crashes would happen.

Now I've got the crucial kit installed, at 3600mhz, no more clicking, games run smooth as butter and no bluescreens.

I'm wondering now if that clicking was arcing..probably would have destroyed my MB if I'd left it any longer.

Waiting to hear back on the RMA, it got delivered to them yesterday.

haha, I was looking at RAM over the last few days, couldn't see why that Patriot stuff was so cheap, guess you get what you pay for, 2x16Gb 3600Mhz Crucial it is then.
