Hiya. Just ordered a full am5 build. But like an idiot I ordered 64gb of XMP memory instead of expo.

My current AM4 system runs XMP just fine. So I'm presuming I can just manually set the timings on AM5?

You can, but doing this manually is a little trickier than with AM4, just ask Threepwood here.

XMP is usually supported by AM5 boards anyway, there's a large number of XMP kits in the QVL.

Thanks the clk 36 version of the ram is on qvl. So I took a punt that clk 30 will be fine as well. Will give it a go and see what happens can always send it back.

its 64GB (2x32GB) Corsair DDR5 Vengeance Black, PC5-48000 (6000), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 30, XMP 3.0, 1.4V

This model is on the QVL im assuming the timing wont make much difference

It's fine. It's not worth the hassle of swapping it out. You won't notice a huge difference.

If you want, set the timings to manual and drop the values by 1 click and see if that improves anything. Then try 2 clicks. (eg CL 15 - 15 - 15 - 40 becomes 13 - 13 - 13 - 40).

You can also look at tightening up the sub and tertiary timings which I've found makes a noticeable improvement.
