I have some Hyper X Fury 2666 on a Gigabyte SOC Force Motherboard with a 5820K cpu.

Every time I enable XMP profile in the bios it reboots, fails before bios screen, reboots and then comes up with a screen saying the bios settings have failed. This is at stock with all settings as standard.

I have tried altering voltage to 1.3v on the ram and no joy.

The manually settings for 2666 which my bios defaults to anyway look exactly the same as the XMP profile as far as I can see.

I have tested the memory and appears fine. I get the cpu to 4.6 Ghz and even faster memory speeds with tighter timings and is 100% stable.

It just annoys me that the XMP porfile doesnt work. ANy ideas why?

XMP 2666mhz you need to use 125 strap its the native multi on X99.

Meh why doesnt it tell you this anywhere or why when you enable the xmp profile does it not change it for you? :p

On another note, if you get chance 8 pack, could you have a look at my overclocking issues on my 5820 in the overclocking section please?

Tips would be greatly appreciated :)

On another note any benefit to running 125 strap as opposed to 100 strap?

I think ive got my 5820K stable at 4.6Ghz and 1.25v so I'm hoping I have a special chip and wanting to push it further now :)

Also set 2666mhz manually and the correct 4 main timings. Use SA +0.25v.

Thats the strange thing. The bios by default has 2666Mhz and 100 strap and the 4 main timings match the XMP and it works fine even with no adjustment to the SA.

Hence I wondered why it didnt work with the XMP profile?

2666 is not native memory divider on 100 strap. Its very unlikely to work and if it boots then its even less likely to be stable.

Just use 125 strap. With your same voltages. Set a core Ratio of 37 clocks the CPU to 4625 and set cache to 26 multi or so and done.
