Hi all,

Got some issues with my XMP memory, in that when it is switched on the PC is highly unstable and blue screens unless QPI voltage is upped to around 1.3 volts. My question is, does this mean the memory is faulty? Mobo is Rampage III Extreme and the memory is 6x3GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz. I have tried the memory 1 stick at a time, no difference.

Got Cpu-Z timings info if it helps: 800.6MHz/2.12/8.0/8/8/24/72/2T

Also, on the subject of QPI voltage, when I switch on XMP it takes the QPI setting from Auto to 1.2 volts. Like I said in my first post if set it to 1.3 volts, or indeed back to auto, the system becomes stable again...btw set to auto, the board sits the voltage at 1.363.

Basically does this sound healthy?

if the ram states it's 1.65volts then i don't understand why you are running it lower at 1.3volts, your memory is obviously crying out for more volts so give it more volts. it can go upto 1.65volts so up it till it is stable or untill you hit 1.65volts

^OP has already stated that DIMMs are running at correct voltage 1.65v. Its the QPI that is needing to be run at 1.3v for stability.

Zanzibar, are you sure your DIMMs are causing the BSODs? Could it be your CPU (stock/'clocked?) or GPU ('clocked/latest drivers etc)? Is PSU up to the task?

My PSU is the Corsair AX850 which is actually a massive overkill for what I'm running. I'm pretty sure neither the CPU or GPU are at fault, though I can't be certain. All I know is that when I select XMP mode the QPI field goes from being [Auto] to [1.2], and that unless I switch it back to Auto or 1.3 volts, it blue screen's like crazy.
