Just bought a 2nd pair of these, they rate the same as originals i bought from o/c but has been a while since they stocked any, revisions are same at ver 1.2 2.20v and 5-5-5-15.

Now ill give some info what ive done and if anyone can sudgest something more for stability then im all damn ears cause im on the brink of phoning tomorrow to get some info or replacements.. (bought only 2 days ago)..

I got them in the post the packaging where u pull the 2 plastic ends apart seem to fall open rather than me have to force them open (im thinking already used here). Anyhow i seated them in the next 2 dimm slots for dual channel etc and 4gb reads on bootup and with my 8800GTX etc in XP minus other bios/kernel eating black hole i of course end up with 3GB (ok thats fine)

Now gaming, i get BSOD nv4_disp.dll screen errors, (tried many fresh installs of drivers the clean way as usual)

Random crashes in games failing with the exe itself of the game..

lock ups.. sigh etc..

I set the E6600 to stock speed and ram to SPD etc with auto voltage detection, run better but still got BSOD eventually and lockups..

Tried with voltages 1.35v cpu 2.1 and 2.2v ram and 1.5 mch. Still the same.

Checked out the ram on Everest for its cycle times,. notice each pair has diff tRC times old pair of 29 and new pair of 22 so i set in my bios with stock boars speeds 266 i think it was for cpu and ram with SPD was at 400 or so.

2.2v on ram 5-5-5-15 with tRC 29 saved rebooted etc no joy same thing.

I tried to look at the SPD tab with CPUID etc etc or was it CPUZ cant recal doy. anyhow no speeds showed it was all greyed out. I looked in Everest and when i clicked on my old ram sticks i generally use, both showed 0-5-5-15 ? yet the new ones plugged in with them showed 5-5-5-15..

now i take out the new ones and my old ram goes back to reading 5-5-5-15 ..

Its my first time using 4gb and im sticking them in a AW9D Max board with a E6600 with a enermax galaxy psu, and a evga 8800GTX..

Any help at all is most appreciated..

Cheers.

James.

no i will try tonight, i havent done it yet as its tight in the case, with the cooler ontop of the ram and fiddling about drives me mad,... I so dislike slotting and deslotting ram modules lol..

Ill post later what happens..

Hmm well i just played crysis and assassins creed for a total of 3hrs and no crashes with the new ram only used on the board. where as before soon as i fired it up with all my sticks in it would throw the game out with a exe module crash or blue screen with nvidia fault etc..

Now before the drivers for nvidia with the /3gb switch on xp32, u had to set a /useva= flag on bios, but I tried that and same thing, also i believe all the newer drivers make it so you dont need that flag no more when using 4gb ram.

So any ideas then? it seems all my sticks run fine as 2gb but soon as i add the additional 2gb its when crap happens..

there is nothing fancy in the AW9D bios apart from the standard timings and voltage for the ram, and the board takes 8gb.

here is the ram info and of course the missing slots are matched to what u see here.

Btw what is that missing number about on the first part of the timings it says 0.0 on slot 2

right i just tried to launch an app and it said sys.audio error ( BSOD )

Is this a Mch voltage issue im seeing here then ?

ive put the ram volts at 2.0 now instead of higher just following the info guide lines im seeing on the cpuiz etc, its not like the ram is being over stressed at 365mhz or so right ?

some success, ive seem to go it stable at standard clock speeds for cpu and ram.

ram is at 266 or so 4-4-4-13 - 1.9v - 1:1 ratio

mch - 1.51v

cpu - 1.35v

Now if i want to do some raising of the cpu to 355 fsb and keep ram same 1:1that would be ddr2-710, now my concern is what timings should i try, going by that last post with the memory info, not sure cause i dont know why its saying 0-6-6-30 etc why the 0 ? at that high, i thought the ram was supposed to be 1066 rated at 5-5-5-15 ?

ugh some volt recomendations and timings be great please..

cheers.

James.

P.S i know ive done a nice monologue for you all :) but hey maybe someone will read it again in the morning when ** all awake..

I'd go with what the manufacturer set in EPP - 5-5-5-15 with tRC =22 and command rate = 2T

Chnage the voltage to 2.2 for the ram.

Make sure you have enough juice running through the northbridge (and sufficient cooling - what temp does the nb get to btw?)

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Greebo,

im sure i tried that originaly well actually i did but tRC was 29 because when i got only my older bought 2gb sticks in only they said 29 so i went with that, i can try tRC 22 shortly when i wake up a bit more lol..

Now do you know why the EPP end shows 0-6-6-15 on my original pair? i see the tRC says 30.

And could you give any info on why one would choose tRC 22, do you go with the lower of the pair sticks or something? Slot 1&3 is the new bought pair, while slot 2&4 is the set ive always been using which are showing that 0-6-6-15, but only when all 4 sticks are plugged in..

Im not sure NB temp off the top of my head ill look when i have another go shortly.

2.2v is what i originaly used also when first trying the 4 sticks in, i was on 2.1 before that. the mch ive never taken past 1.51v. that voltage part worries me more so than ram as i have better guidlines for it..

Anyhow got visitors but i will give it another go and repost my findings A.s.a.p.

Thanks a lot for the reply btw, helps me learn no end with at least some sort of safety to it all. :)

I have just done as you sudgested Greebo,

im not sure which is the NB temp on that sensor list, but looking at them all they to me seem very good, that is if that application is worthy of looking at for temp readings.. the cpu ones match what my core temp application says though..

the cpu votlage reads wrong for sure on everest, as i always have it around 1.35 or 1.37

still ive not yet run anything hard through this yet I will though soon that is if you think that might be good to do some stress testing on as it is right now.?

Hey at least it booted this time maybe thats cause i took the MCH from 1.52 to 1.53v ... Im suprised such a small amount of change allows such a big change overall lol. Anyway look at the screenshot and if you have anymore grand wisdom, or want me to use another app to show something do let me know.. :)

Is there a reason why cpu-Z shows only a 20 tRC when i set it to 22 ? im guessing again its just another reading issue..

right got another BSOD on just opening a general app after doing hardly anything at all lol, so I cant see what else to feasably increase other than the MCH so ive upped that to 1.54 now.. cpu is on 1.375v ram 2.2v 5-5-15-22 still.. sigh..

Yeah if you go over to Corsair forums and put your memory in they say you have to have the mch @ 1.65v  and ich at 1.2v to run four of these.

It might be worthwhile going over there and posting your problem cause the ramguy bloke from corsair is very good at giving quick answers and accurate details for settings.

Also it might be worthwhile posting your difference in cpu readings between slots. A similar but different problem between mismatched readings resulted in the ramguy getting the guy to rma the memory.
