Hey all,
i had 8gb XMS3 (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-290-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517) for about 8 months,everything was perfect.
Few weeks ago i got another 8gb of XMS3 from another place (it was are gift coupon, nearly expired so i must pick something) extacly same as i got from OcUK
After i installed, problems started - constant BSOD's,random crashes etc etc..
Reinstalled Win 7 x64,corrected pagefile size - still problems...
Then i spotted difference between the ram from OcUK and ram from other place in CPUZ:
OcUK memory http://tinypic.com/r/6zrk3o/7

NON OcUK memory http://tinypic.com/r/vimfco/7

There seems different mhz between them,and what means pc3-8500F?Its 1066 mhz,not 1600mhz?
Didnt checked with memtes yet,but im sure all problems because of different ram
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Both sets of RAM are rated to run at 1600MHz but have different SPD information so they probably use different RAM chips.

I would say the best way to try and get everything working is to set things manually in the BIOS.

Option 1: Set the BIOS to use the XMP profiles. These are the same for both sets of RAM and will set them to 1600MHZ, 9-9-9-24, Command Rate 2T @ 1.65V. You will then want to see if you can lower the voltage towards 1.5V as that's safer for Sandy Bridge.

Option 2: Just set everything entirely manually in the BIOS. Speed 1600MHz, Timings 9-9-9-24, Command Rate 2T and voltage as low as you can get it towards 1.5V with everything running stably.

The "Memory" tab in CPU-Z will tell you what the RAM is actually running at.
