I just received my essence STX and installed the latest drivers off the asus website, I have been looking around for how to set up surround sound and noticed that other xonar audio centers are in blue mine is in red is this a problem or is it just because its a different driver version? also in DPS MODE in the box below it says dolby headphone in orange I do have it ticked and other peoples shows in blue does this mean my headset isn't dolby compatible? I have a sennheiser game one headset is this a dolby headset? I thought it would be as this is an upgraded version of the pc 360s

Here is an image of my audio center

I just hope I haven't chose the wrong headset :(

It's just a different colour, doesn't mean anything.
When playing a game with special in game headphone settings just set the driver to 2 channel and click the HF button for Hi-Fi which will give you the cleanest pass through and allow the in game audio to control what you hear.
When playing a game that doesn't have in game headphone support, such as Skyrim, then I set the driver to 6 or 8 channel and click the game button (not GX) and you should be hearing some very nice surround sounds.
Also, make sure to use the 6.3mm sockets on the rear of the sound card for the best audio, I never even connect the sockets on the front of the case as the leads will pick up any electromagnetic interference from within the case.

wow I'm such an idiot just realised its because I downloaded the beta driver :O

Sorry to Hi Jack, and speaking of Drivers, I've just picked up a DGX, I've seen different things about modified drivers for this card, is there one or stick with the Latest Asus one?

Cheers.

I must have been using beta drivers ever since I got the card in that case :D

You can find the 3rd party unified drivers here:
http://maxedtech.com/asus-xonar-unified-drivers/

I have used them with my DGX but found no improvements in sound quality or stability, so since I got the STX I have stuck with the Asus drivers and have had zero problems in either Windows 8 or 8.1
