My Xonar D2 arrived today! :)

Installed the drivers and installed the card as per usual, however, when I try to play a song in itunes, or a flac in VLC media player, it crashes itunes/vlc media player. I have no idea why it is doing this! ):

Specs are:

Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R
Sapphire HD5850
Crucial M4 60Gb SSD
WD 1Tb Caviar Black
6Gb Patriot Viper
Asus Xonar D2
Corsair 650w

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

I wonder if the GX is enabled. TBH, I wouldn't have thought it would have any bearing on music, but you never know. Normally it would be games that crash, if that was the cause. Try turning it off, if it is on, and see if that changes anything.

If it isn't that, then you could try Brainbit's Unified Xonar drivers. Modified drivers that solves some issues people may have with their Xonar.

Another thing you could try, is reseating the card, and maybe try another PCI slot, if you have one.

Thanks, couldn't find a GX button? So I just un-installed and installed the unified drivers! :)

I finally have noise! Sounds so much better! How ever there is a slight 'pop' when i play a song in iTunes, guess that's the driver problem, so i'll search the website for answers to that!

Thanks, Mike
