Yesterday I installed a new Xonar D2X and it's fantastic, but there's an issue/question I'd like to ask, so here it goes.

The main settings are as follows:

Audio Channel - 8
Sample Rate - Greyed Out
Analog Out - Greyed Out
SPDIF Out - Dolby Digital Live

DSP Mode - HF

There seems to be a constant crackle sound whatever the volume (of course it's not audible when loud music is playing but is so when playing something like Cleveland Show on low/mid volume).

I'm using Tritton AX Pro headphones which are connected to the supplied decoder which in turn is connected to the Xonar via the optical cable. When the headphones are muted via the in-line remote there's no crackling sound but when they're muted via Windows the crackling persists. Also the noise gets louder as the volume goes up.

More info that might be useful:

When setting the SPDIF to PCM the noise goes away.
DPC Latency Checker has the latency around 350 - 450 in the green, this is with audio playing/stopped on DDL on PCM it's around 250 - 350 in the green also whether there's audio playing or not.

I'm fairly new to audio hardware so it may be something I'm doing wrong, I've added a link to what it sounds like (forgive the background hiss) also the strange techno bleep sound is also a part of the issue.

Link to the video is here (it refused to convert to audio so it's ~7.5mb - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2176684/VID_20110305_172252.m4v

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated whether it's a fix or just information on why it's doing it. Also if you need more information I shall include it.

Many thanks.
