The front 3.5mm jack on my case has broken unfortunately.

My problem is that when I plug my headphones into the sound card it's self, I get no sound at all. When I try plugging into the motherboards 3.5mm jack I only get onboard sound.

It's seems a bit odd to me:confused:

Do any of you know how to get the motherboard headphone socket to use my sound card? or failing that, why the ports on the back of the card it's self would not be working?

Thank you!

I have exactly the same problem as you I haven't figured out how to resolve it yet when I play around with the settings I can sometimes here a very faint voice. I think can only be a driver problem

Have you selected your soundcard as the default in your BIOS? Was the front audio panel's HD Audio connector connected to the soundcard itself and not your mobo?

When you have a soundcard you are meant to disable the onboard hd audio in the bios
there is no way of using a soundcard and connecting it to the onboard to use the headphone jack

the headphone out on the xonar dx is the second input from the top of the card the side furthest away from the board the one next to the red spdif light
it's the analogue out the same thing you connect stereo speakers to

btw when you use a front panel connector for headphones you are losing sound quality

Sorry not easy typing with a mobile I meant I did disable the on board sound bios using my Asus hero motherboard and it makes no difference regarding getting the mic to work

I'll try disabling the onboard sound and see what comes of it. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for the replies. Cookeh - the front IO 3.5mm cable is plugged into the sound card.

Well, tried disabling onboard sound and have my headphones plugged into the port you mentioned C64 but unfortunately no luck.

I've tried them in each of the ports on the back, and tried messing around with settings in the drivers but still no joy.

SUCCESS!!!

After disabling the onboard sound and it still not working, I of course re-enabled it in the meantime until I can figure out the problem.

I tried my luck and plugged my headphones into the port mention above, and it's working.

I won't ask why or how I'm just pleased it's working. Thank you :)
