Hi All,

Hopefully a quick question. Is it possible to have two 3.5mm outputs on the Xonar DX?

Both outputs will be the same.

Make sense?

Ta,

Tom

I think so but it's not a great solution. You could use the front and rear speaker jacks, then map the rear speakers on top of the front ones using virtual speaker.

Two things to consider are that they might not be exactly the same output (but probably close enough for most), and the SQ from the rear jacks isn't as good as the front ones (they use different op amps etc. and have worse specs, but again probably not noticeably).

It's literally for some cheap headphones to play a few games on a night with, so no need to be great quality. So I can have my speakers on the normal output and then the headphones on the other?

What is this virtual speaker you speak of?

Thanks,

Tom

Does your PC case not have headphone/mic jack, which you can connect the case's "HD Audio" cable to your Xonar DX? That's what I done with my 690 II Advanced case.

You just need to use the control panel to switch between the speaker and the headphone output.

Dolby virtual speaker and 7.1 virtual speaker shifter are found in the control panel of the asus drivers. You just drag the speakers around in space and it mixes accordingly. By moving the rear ones forward it'll just map the front stereo to the rear stereo jacks.

Otherwise yep good shout you can probably use the front panel headers for another output.
