I just got my new system, installed my Xonar DX in the first pci-e slot, i installed drivers and everything.

I get this crackly distortion on the music and everything i play at anything about 48khz sampling rate, i used to have it on PCM 192KHz, now anything higher than 48 is terribly distorted. Any ideas how to fix this problem, or is it fine to keep it on 48?

Dunno. Try the usual tricks - different slots. Uninstall and reinstall drivers. Take out a stick of RAM (some soundcards have issues with addressing 4GB+ RAM due to 64 bit addressing in drivers - it's only happened to me with Creative cards though).

Unfortunately if it turns out to be RAM related it's will be a pain to solve.

Edit: Just to confirm - Xonars should be crackle free right up to 192. My D2 is anyway.

look for the patch in the Vista section (Vista 64 if you use 7 64), install that after the 7 beta driver

wish asus could buck up their ideas a bit, they have fantastic hardware, but really cack driver support, and their forums are horrible.

plus they have the slowest website on earth

Stepped back my overclock by a bit and it's perfect now, it was stable, but having mini crashes I think, recovering each time, but lagging. Must need more volts to get it fully stable, the extra core must be holding it back.
