Hiya,
I have recently invested in a shuttle sx38p2 (running vista x64), a cracking 24" tft and now all I need is surround / 5.1 sound via headphones (for games playing only).
However I'm getting in a pickle how to go about this, although the onboard sound does DolbyDigital live and DTS I've yet to understand how I can go about enabling this?
Initially I was convinced all I required was a headphone that catered for an S/PDIF connection. Clearly I need to research some more ...
But then I was directed towards the audigy 2 nx and asus xonar u1 as worthy usb solutions (I have no space for an internal solution) with a mind to connect up using a decent set of stereo headphones(?) allowing the hardware to produce surround/positional sound.
To be fair, I'm confused. I'm happy to use the internal audio chip with the sx38 if it can do what I'm after, alternatively I have no issue going for a xonar u1 or if I can find one, a audigy 2 nx.
Some direction/advice much appreciated.
Cheers, Paul.
