XP 32bit 4GB

Ok boys and girls.

I have a 32bit machine which has 4GB of RAM which shows up on boot, but when i go into Windows it only shows 2.5GB.

Now is this correct due to it being a 32bit system or should it be noticing more?

The motherboard is most likely taking the first 1.5 GB for other hardware applications. Mine does something similar.

yes that is normally, go get w7 and install 64bit. Wasting all your money you have spent on that rig.

What make model of gfx card is in your system ?

This isn't my rig, this is a work machine.

The GFX card is an 8600GTS 256mb

in that case it should be seeing around 3.5GB. is it 4x1GB sticks or 2x2Gb sticks?
Any other cards in there which has a lot of memory on it.
