I'm in the process of buying a new PC from OCUK

I think I am goin to go with this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/syscon_int.php?prodid=FS-062-OK

With some of the following bits 'n pieces:

- Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
- OCZ 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (2x2GB)
- Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3
- 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB 7200RPM SATA-II 32MB Cache HDD

The question I want to ask is, would I benefit from getting the 64bit version of XP over the 32bit one? I'm mostly going to be running apps like 3D Studio Max 2008, ZBrush 3 and Photoshop CS....

The answer is probably yes but I thought I'd first get some input from those in the know ;)

Any help would be great :)

I'd go with the 64bit XP or even consider 64bit Vista as 32bit OS are a bit of a dead end now due to the memory limit. While only being able to use 3.5gb at the moment on 32bit OS isn't much of a loss, in a year or so your going to want a 8gb of ram and then you will definatly need to upgrade to an 64bit OS.

Whether there are an compatability isssue or speed issued with using 3d Studio with a 64bit OS i have no idea. So you may want to get others views on that before making a decision.
