For some reason rvery time i install xp 64bit it runs smooth as anything for the first few days then as time passes it becomes very congested. Everything slows right down, This includes loading up windows, accesing the start bar, opening applications and also running applications.

I have tried using tune up utilities to speed things up, Virus scans, defraging, scan disk, reg scans. But nothing seems to help.

I have an amd 4600x2 aswell as 4 gig ram.

any ideas??

Check all your drivers are up to date. Also, fire up task manager and see if there is a particular process hogging the CPU.

Well thats the thing also, My cpu and ram hardly gets touched, At most cpu jumps up to 60% now and then but mostly ram and cpu are barely used. All my drivers are up to date though cause its a pretty fresh install.

i can't postulate as to the cause of the problem, but i can say that XP x64 isn't at fault here, as my install of x64 has been running as fast as the day i reinstalled, which was about 6 months ago :)

(i had to reinstall because the Asus drives for my sound card didn't agree with the onboard sound drivers for some reason)
