Hi,

After hearing of some problems with vista 64bit and graphics card drivers I was wondering if xp 64bit had the same kind of support as vista 64bit with regards to software and drivers.

I.e. do all/most drivers that have vista 64bit versions have xp 64bit versions too?

Thanks

Daven

Most things have good 64 bit drivers either way (vista and xp)

XP64 is weird though, it feels quite dated now (i went from xp64 to vista 64)

Big thumbs up for everything working with 64bit drivers though! even my ebay super special 1p ps2 pad adapter :)

well the long running thread on 4870 and vista 64bit says different!!

i dont mind too much about peripherals (only have a mouse and keyboard!!), but i just want my graphics cards to work well.

im going to be running 3 screens, on either 4870 + 3450 or nvidia 260 + 8500.

only problem is the vista drivers for these seem a bit dodgy

Ah thats all about the interface, i find its exactly the same as xp was in 2001, which for me is just dull and slightly unpleasant. Beyond the appearance aspect i like that vista's update service is better (being an individual application opposed to an extension to ie) and the UAC thing (once you get over the strangeness of it) is actually useful.

Oh also another vote for the 4870 dual screen thread being a bit nonsence (or full of people just doing it wrong), my 4870 copes with 2 screens fine (in vista 64).

*hides from the vista-bashers and 4870's-are-broken people*

Edit, yeah super fetch is pretty cool too! (and indexing for fast searches is actually really good 2, ignoring all those who say to turn it off)

well tbh i think i am just going to get the 4870 and 3450 and if it doesn't work with vista 64 then going to use xp 64.

I've been wondering the same thing (XP 64 or Vista 64)

In the end Vista seems like the better option, plus it's cheaper!

Running Vista 64bit here for 2 month’s, no problem’s with my 4850 graphic’s card on 8.8 ATI drivers. In fact no problems installing any drivers at all or software.
