xp and mac compatable hard drive format? -not fat/fat32

are there any formats nativly read/writeable by both os's that supports large files and is nice and stable ?

No there aren't. However, I think a 3rd party has a non-free solution that patches XP to be able to read HFS+ volumes. Google it a bit.
