Xp and updating ?

Ive never updated xp pro as my friend always says it slows the system down, well im wondering does it really and should i put the updates on ?

I know not of any reason why you shouldn't have pretty much all the updates for XP. Not having them is just ruddy stupid.

Actually, the opposite is true, especially when XP SP3 is released. Give your friend a slap and run a full Windows update.

Its not the slowing down I'd be worried about, but all those tiny little security fixes for the big fat loopholes people find in Windows.

Updating, I find makes my system that bit more stable. Well depending if its a 'core' update or not but I have never noticed a slow down. Unless you have a lot of processes running haven't rebooting in ages as that clears the RAM etc...
