XP crash - does my theory make sense?

Boss's son is away at uni and called his dad crying that he'd lost "ALL MY WORK!" because his PC "BLEW UP".

It didnt', it's not a Mac or a Dell :p

Turns out what actually happened is he was logged onto it and using it, went for a pee, came back and it had blue screened. He rebooted, logged in and "ALL MY WORK IS GONE!"

So my theory is this:

It crashed
he rebooted
logged back on
windows found a corrupt profile and created a nice new one
hence his work "having gone walkabout"

So I'm going to suggest he goes and looks through the documents and settings folder for his old work, make sense?

or have I missed something blatantly obvious? :)

Sounds about right to me.

I doubt the blue screen would have caused his work to be deleted.

It's annoying because I'm fairly sure when this happens windows will tell you it's making a new profile, if he's the average user like his dad though I'm betting he just hit OK without thinking twice :p
