PC was running fine until last week. (AMD 2600 1024 Ram)
Now, when it boots up, everything is running smooth until I get my wallpaper up on the screen and thats it, it will hang there with just the wallpaper on the screen, no icons and no HDD activity for about a good 5 mins ??? then the HDD will kick in, and eventually it will finish booting up.
I have run spyware programs and everytihng is fine. Bit stumped on this one guys, any suggestions ?

I dont think so, i have defragged and once the PC is fully booted, it runs fine, it just sort of stumbles once the wallpaper appears on the screen.
Come to think of it, its ever since I installed my Kodak digital camera software on it, and I used the Kodak software to put a pic as a wallpaper ??? I might be grabbing at straws but do you think this might have something to do with it, i am at work now so cant try anything, grrrr always the same !!!

Check what item are starting up in the system tray and disable those you don't need. Use MSCONFIG from the run prompt and uncheck thoese that you know you don't need. It's suprising that by just keeping this to a minimum how much system resource you free up. Try and only do one at a time, then re-boot.

Also, it might be worth checking your page file size. Make sure this is system managed otherwise it should be set to at least 1.5 x physical RAM.

I done the MSCONFIG and start up. Interesting about the page size file though, i will check that out when i get home, cheers mate :)
