Hi my mate fetched his netbook down to see If I could free up some space but there ZERO space left and when I try to uninstall anything it says no disk space left to run un-installer? Threre no temp files or anything theres nothing I can move, there is a partition with 7gb left but it still won't let me install anything on there as there no space even for the registry to write files.

Any Ideas? Apart from a re-install and putting both partitions together which I dont really want to do just yet.

Cheers Paul

Check drwatson.log

I forget where it is, but sometimes XP goes mental and writes shedloads to there. You can delete the logfile to clear some space, but chances are it'll start logging again and you'll get the same problem in a period of time.

easy

Get a linux (ubuntu) iso , burn it to a cd

Boot it using the live boot option (try ubuntu NOT install)

When it has finished loading and you have a desktop , get an external hard drive and
attach it.

Now pick some data from the xp installation (eg some data that you dont mind moving temporarily) and
copy it onto your external HD , now delete that data from the xp install.

You should have enough space to run xp and un-install what you need to , when finished just copy the data back from the external HD.

Ive managed to get to network 7 to XP turned on file sharling on C: drive on xp but keeps saying permission denied? I just want to move files off so I can un-install afew programs then put the files back.

Is it possible to get access to C drive? promgram files?

Chuck in a ubuntu cd and remove any non needed folders from C:\

There's always some in there

Like C:\Intel
C:\AMD
C:\Nvidia etc etc

Also remove downloads etc

Then reboot and install ccleaner slim

Run this, remove System restore etc etc
