Hi guys,

I am doing a clean install on a customers PC but am running into a problem.

After the first phase of install, partitioning the HDD and copying over the install files (The Blue screens) as you know the PC then restarts and switches to a more graphical UI.

Well, after this restart the PC is hanging on the XP loading bar screen. Now, correct me if I am wrong but the bar is green on home edition and blue on pro edition? If this is true then for some reason I am getting a blue bar despite using a Home edition CD.

This is a most frustrating problem. The initial problem with the PC was that it had severe virii problems.

Any help or advice appreciated.

Chris

Ok, its blue due to SP2

Since SP2, there is next to no difference between Home and Pro anyway.

If its hanging, then go into the BIOS and set it to SETUP DEFAULTS, to keep things like RAM timing etc down to a SAFE-LEVEL and if this dont play ball, check out your RAM.

Turns out it was an issue with SP2, the Bios and the Celeron D CPU.

It's a known problem, I found the cure on this forum when I searched for Mup.sys.

Thanks anyway.
