XP install problem

Hi All,
After using Vista 64 on my rig I decided to go back to XP Pro for the time being... well I got my Windows 98 disk and used fdisk to nuke the HDD... afte this I put in the Windows XP disk got to the checking your computers HDD then its does nothing but read the HDD... all the time, and does nothing else...

What am I missing? I really need help on this people!!!

I have fdisked it created a primary partition...

ok will try formatting it, didnt realise that you would have to do that after using Vista 64

Let you know how it goes...

tried that... when trying to boot with XP it just reads the HDD and does nothing else...
