XP install problems

I had real issues installing XP with SP2 onto a new setup. Im using a Giga z77-ds3h MB so all sata drives and no floppy.

When booting from cd I got to the setup page and created a partition on the drive, it then says that XP cant be installed on it. I never got the option to format it.

I rebooted several times and got the same thing over and over, then finally it gave the format option. I think it was something to do with the boot priorities in the bios, I had made the cd drive the boot drive originally, but then changed it back to the hard drive and then chose the one off boot from cd option when exiting bios setup.

Anyone else had this problem? Is it just a case of me getting the boot up sequence wrong or what?

1) Format (NTFS) drive using GParted
2) Boot from CD, let XP copy files, yadayada.
3) After the first XP reboot, boot from HDD.

CAn the XP disk not do the format?

I managed to do it and Im pretty sure its because I changed the boot drive order in bios. I just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem and could confirm Im a ********!

Move to w7. Xp is ancient.

If you want to stick with xp. Get an Xp sp3 disc and slipstream the sata drivers in.

Driverpacks. Net is a good solution
