Hi guys,

First of all let me tell you the keyboard I am using. It is a Microsoft Natural Multimedia keyboard which is PS/2 but the PS/2 port on my computer seems to have shorted out so I have obtained a PS/2 to USB dongle which I have been using fine on my current installation.

Problem is that when I try to reinstall my o/s XP Home it goes into the DOS part of the setup fine but when it asks me to press R to repair or Enter to continue etc it doesn't seem to recognise the keyboard.

I have got the USB support turned on in the BIOS so that ain't the problem. Think it might be the dongle???

Anyone know how I can get around this?

Thanks

It will be the problem.
The bios needs to give USB control to the OS. Look for that option.
What motherboard do you have?

could be the dongle. I'v had loads of problems with those things.
got another computer/friends computer to test it on?

That's not the problem :)

if it works in windows, but not in windows setup, then it is the problem

look for usb legacy support

might be 'usb mode - bios or os'
