having some "issues" installing winxp pro on my new kit. now i have set up my raid array (2 disks in raid0) and booted from the windows CD. next after a few problems i can now load the nvidia raid drivers (Nvidia raid class driver and the nvidia nforce storage controller). now once you go to actually start an installation it coming uo with a message saying
"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your system "

it then of course doesnt let you proceed with the setup.

i have updated the bios, "borrowed" a xp pro cd with service pack 2 included but no joy.

any help would be much appreciated.

Spec:

AMD X2 4800+ CPU
ASUS M2N32-SLI Wireless Edition Motherboard
2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX
Hiper Modular 580 Watt PSU
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA-II Hard Drives
Sound Blaster Audigy 4
1 x Gainward Geforce 7900GTX 512mb DDR3

how have You loaded the sata drivers?

First thging I would do is use http://www.nliteos.com/ to try and include all you sata drivers into the windows cd. At the same time you might as well include all of *** mobo drivers and windows patchs.

I know this might sound a bit condescending but please don't think I am trying to be!!

Make sure everything in your case is connected up correctly i.e is everything plugged in etc.

Then when you bootup, before your windows installation cd kicks in, do you see your hard disks displayed?

they are not displayed on the post screen as i have already assigned them to a raid array. hope thats right anyway

i have created an f6 floppy with the nvidia raid drivers, which when loading them in windows gives me :

Nvidia raid class driver
Nvidia nforce storage controller

am i missing some sata drivers? i didnt find any sata specific drivers under the nvidia section although the mobo cd has silicon sata drivers, didnt want to combine the two vendors.

Thats sounds about right, are you installing both of those drivers? Have you checked to make sure that your drives are both connected to the Nvidia MCP connections rather than the Silicone Image ones(one)?
Try going to the Asus site and getting the latest drivers.

yep all disks are connected to my nvidia sata bank and i load both sets od drivers.

had a bit of a break through yesterday late last night, once id loaded the drivers in the windows setup i was presented with the agree terms and conditions screen. i didnt install due to the lateless but will give it a go.

i take it everyone has this sort of trouble when setting up raid for the first time :D
