Quick question, I have a copy of Windows XP with SP3 that came with my OcUK laptop. Now, can I use this to install XP on our other home computers (a desktop and a couple of laptops) or is it a single license? (i.e. my laptop only).

I've never been entirely clear about this so if anyone could put me right, that'd be grand.

I would suspect it would be an oem disc / license which can only be used with your laptop.

Edit: the disc you can use to re-install windows on other computer belongs you enter the code from the sticker of authenticity which is stuck to each case/pc and that they are OEM software.

Hi Chapple, it's more than likely that you have an OEM license which means you are only licensed to use that copy of Windows on the first machine it was originally installed on which would be your laptop.

If you wish to install Windows XP or any other system in your home, you will have to buy another license. :)

Ahhh ok, chars for that. Looks like we'll have to grab another copy of XP.

Just to make this perfectly clear, you will need another licence for every other machine you install XP on that doesn't already have a licence. You can't just buy one more copy and install it on multiple machines.
