so, it would appear that i have somehow broke my parents pc again.. god knows how.

with the pc there is a single user that has no password, so the machine loads and you click the user to log in, starts to load the settings desktop etc. but then it says that the profile cannot be found or something similar to that .. i'm not 100% what the message is thats thrown up, but it loads up a temp. account.

then once loged in with this temp account you can navigate to the user files like desktop etc for the user and see all the files on the hard drive so they are all still there, i know they are.. i am looking at them! lol

so, my question is how do i fix this? and make the pc realise that the profile or whatever is still there and load up the correct desktop/settings/documents etc?

Thanks guys :)

Log in with the default admin account (safe mode), backup the damaged profile folder, then delete the original, log out and log back in as the user account and windows should create a new profile for it.
Once done, copy the files you want from the backup.

ah ok, a lot simplier then i was thinking, makes this thread seem rather silly now lol thak you very much UKDTweak :)
