hi my problem is that i set up the computer for my son and it booted straight into windows until recently where a user login appears can i turn it off and revert back to the old way as he is the only one using the PC

start, run, type in..

control userpasswords2

press enter, then untick 'users must enter a password'

click ok, when it asks for username & password, make sure you type in the name of his account (probably not administrator) and his password (if he has one) )

hi i have applied the changes above and the PC changed to a different desktop , ichecked the account users via the control panel and it has 2 types of admin accounts 1 Stephen - computer administrator the original one i set up and another called administrator- computer administrator , my own PC is set up the same way and it didnt have the admin-computer admin second account can i delete this account -how as after the change we have to change account and also the PC is warning other accounts are logged on, i think what may have happened originally was that my son on a reboot may have hit the log off tab and opened up this other account , so bas icily i just want the original Stephen account to remain and how do i do this safely
thanks ,sorry if it is long winded:)

the 'administrator' account is usually hidden (as in your case), so you need to type in your son's name in the control userpasswords2 section, and use his password, it'll login as him then...

it's safe to remove the other accounts, just set a password on your son's to stop bad programs from trying to install..
