Going back a bit, but I've just got my hands on my brother in law's old PC. I think it's a 2400XP-M or 2500XP-M. The board is a NF-7S and the CPU shows up in the Bios as 'unknown' and I'm trying to find if there are any bios's out there which has corrected this.

I'm guessing only real way to tell which CPU is to take the heatsink off, which I don't reallly wanna do but just want to set it back to stock to pass it onto someone else and can't remember any settings :(

Thanks

Run cpuz, it might tell you what cpu it is, can't remember for sure as its been a long time since i booted the NF-7s machine with a 2500 mobile, but i think it said the model number even though BIOS and windows had it as unknown.

Yeah tried CPUZ yesterday but it was only reporting what I had set it to in the BIOS.

I will try that modded BIOS tomorrow once I get back to the PC. What's the difference though between CPC ON and OFF?

So CPC on would be more stable. Not interested in clocking it. Selling it to someone's mum and just want it to be stable and reliable

I can't get these to work. I've downloaded it, it was a rar file then I got an ISO file from. I thought maybe burn the ISO image to a CD, but Nero won't recognise it.

ISO file goes on a floppy disk for it to be flashed?

Try and download a offical file from abit and see what happens to that.

I used to have this board and chip but it was a while ago so I can't remember :(

yep, managed to get it in now. replaced the standard ISO with the modded one. It now shows up as AMD Athlon XP, then the MHz speed. Currently got it at 200x10 but not sure of the default clock for this CPU

Just read that it should be 1800Mhz and 133x16.5. Not sure what's the safest to use. Or I can pick the default CPU Operating Speed and select 1800MHz (133) which brings it in at 133x13.5
