XP machine restarts whilst booting up in normal/safemode. What would you do?

Quite often, I just backup their stuff, use their xp disc and format = 'new pc'

Really can't be bothered this weekend to do this.


I've tried this in recovery console, but didn't work..

fixboot
fixmbr

doing a chkdsk /f now

What would your next move be?

will try that if chkdsk fails

it's the sort of pc that could do with a full upgrade..

1ghz, 1gb ram, 120gb hard drive

chkdsk fixed it

windows is slow, MASSIVE icons, will clean up best I can

just going to semi fix it, and suggest an upgrade when I give it back (for a family member)
