XP machines! how to tell it's OS on the network?

Just a query, anyone know of a little utility or DOS command that'll tell me the OS of a PC if I only have it's IP address? would be damn handy to have here at work, as it is I have to play guess the XP machine..

and no I dont want to go around them all renaming them or adding in descriptions, I want to be lazy damnit!

In a domain? You have tons of tools available to you now. Computer management will tell you, system information will tell you, regedit will tell you, Active Directory will tell you...
