Has any one had any experience with xp mode in win7 with games if so good or bad ?

Sorry for my ignorance but a friend has just called me on the matter thought i would try and obtain some truth from overclockers members instead of reading the whole of the net :)

thx jay.

ps. come to think of it I'm not sure how it works is it virtual or .. ?

At a simple level, XP Mode is just a fancy version of Virtual PC and is mostly useless for games.

Some lower end games that don't need any remotely fancy graphics ability would probably work though.

Are there many XP games that won't work in 7 - even 64-bit 7? All the ones I've tried just work. Guess I've been lucky.

Cheers buddy that's all i needed to know.

If you disable integration, you can run 32 bit games, anything that runs of integrated graphics runs fine, install IPX and you can run Tiberian Sun over LAN :)

If you need 3D hardware acceleration in a virtual machine take a look at VMware as that does DirectX 9c sm3 in hardware under a xp/vista guest operating system be it at 1/3 of the speed it would run under the host operating system. Still usable with older games.
