A friend had the hard drive replaced on her laptop but the person didnt get the wireless working so she gave it to me 
I plugged it into the router and windows started downloading 85 updates, that finished wireless still not working so back onto windows site and found download for wireless, install that great all working fine. Next day when I turned the laptop back on again it was coming up with something like 'a file was missing or corrupt and has been replaced from a backup' just before the desktop loaded, clicked okay and it wouldnt come back untill i restarted. then random error messages started coming up avg (which apart from office was the only software on there) error message, 'avg cant load' blah blah a few more I cant remember.
Anyway cut a long story short I am now unable to boot into windows noramally or even in safe mode which I was able to before. Ive tried to do a system restore before I installed all the updates but because the laptop restarts a few times when first turned on the system restore wont work.
Its not really a major problem as Im just going to reformat and install windows but I would really like to know why it was playing up incase it starts doing it again.
