I upgraded to Windows 7 and my Q6600 and a 4890 went from 11,000 points in 3DMark 2006 to nearly 15,000. Is this normal?! I was pleasantly surprised.

Metro 2033 doesn't play as smooth as I want so that might be a reason to upgrade next year. I purchased a 360 pad so I can run it at a 720p on my 40" Sony and still achieve a respectable framerate.

xp shouldnt have had a look in since 7 got released. it isnt optimised, it just lacks anything relatively up to date especially regarding graphic performance.

In XP you probably had Force AA on (which would obviously kill your score somewhat) whereas a default install of the drivers Force AA is disabled... hence the higher score. Just my guess.

Another guess could be that you had a few processor cycle intensive apps running in XP which, once again, a fresh OS installed killed off.
