Hi iv got A OEM version of XP on my computer at the moment and i really want to get into over clocking but the motherboard i have now is crap. I want to by a new motherboard but i have suspicion to believe that if i bought a new motherboard i would have to buy a new copy of windows because the OEM version of xp is locked to the Motherboard. Is this true?

lol fair enough but a new license is like the same price as the mobo im looking at if not more
Not for Linux. ;)

A Windows licence may well be the same or more than the new motherboard you are looking at. But you need to take that into account when considering how much you really want to get into overclocking, and whether the total cost involved is worth it/if you are willing to afford it.

Be aware that OEM versions are cheaper because of the limitation on their usage. Get a retail version and you can use it when you upgrade your motherboard all you like. There's a greater up-front cost, but it can work out cheaper than getting multiple OEM versions in the longer run.
