I am going to buy a new computer soon with dual core 2 gig ram ect.. and im not sure whether i should use the XP i have atm or to buy Vista? ive heard there are a lot of problems with vista or has this been fixed?

Thanks in advance

If it's a new PC then get Vista, without a doubt. The only complaints people really make about Vista is the patchy support for old hardware.

I have trouble with 64-bit Vista, even with new hardware (Habu and certain nVidia apps for example). However, you may as well order Vista - you're going to have to get it one day. The best option atm imo is to dual boot, if you can.

My brand new draft-N Linksys wifi card doesn't work with Vista. :( I really should have checked before I bought it, but I just assumed that it would work being a new product. To make matter worse, they don't even have a rough release date for drivers. When did Linksys go so downhill?

Another odd-ball problem was with my router. MCE worked fine under XP, but the Vista version has problems with some wireless networks resulting in extreme menu lag.

You might also want to check what software you're planning to use. There's several known problems with iTunes and other software.

My advice? Do your research and find out whether your hardware/favourite software is compatible with Vista.
