I could really do with some help I recently install vista on another hard drive and then decided that I wanted to try and access some of my files on another hard drive which has XP installed but to do this I had to change the permissions in vista which was nice and easy to do. But now I've come back to XP again I can't access most of my hard drive as I don't have permission and it keeps bring up an error about NMIndexStoreSvr.exe

I can't find any permissions settings anyway in XP how can I change it back

That isn't really a problem its more getting access back to all my files and folders

I've managed to fix most of the problem now, I had to boot into safe mode to be able to access the security settings so that I could change the ownership of the files.

now I just get an error when I boot the machine up saying

User Environment

Windows cannot load the user profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.

DETAIL - incorrect function

does anyone have any idea's about this??
