i want to know if anyone has gone or intends to go over to vista from xp pro 64 ant their experiences also what are the options to upgrade to?

I have got the business addition of Vista 64. I was running XP 64, and now I’m running Vista I will never go back to XP ever again. I have already given my friend my copy of 64 XP.

Installing was very easy and I didn’t have to install any drivers what’s so ever, everything was found for me by Vista. I wasn’t going to buy Vista straight away, as I can remember the issues I had when I bought XP on its 1st release. NO DRIVER, nothing works ECT. That isn’t the case with Vista and it hasn’t even been officially released yet!

The only problem I do have is that I haven’t got the drivers for my 8800 GTX Nvidia card. I can’t play games or use the aero function as Vista is treating my 2 cards as onboard graphics and says I need a graphics accelerator. However, NVIDIA will be releasing drivers in 2 days time!

I run a business and love playing games at work when I have nothing to do. So I would say if you not going to want games for the next 2 days I would ditch XP and go Vista.

Such a solid OS!

Vista's a great OS, but either way, the driver support couldn't be any worse than XP64! :D :p

Tute can you help me please?

I have deleted my microsoft word icon from all programs. How do i get it back in there?

I have tried recycle bin but its not there i must have dumped it.

Cheers

however as you know the driver support in vista x64 will be way better than the xp 64bit support

because ms are only signing drivers now if they're availiable for both 32 and 64 bit vista's

although it seems a bit suicidal to not allow unsigned drivers, it should turn out to be a good move, no more crappy driver issues = super stable os :)

I would think the easiest way is to go to the folder where you installed Office (somewhere in Program Files i'm guessing) and then create a shortcut to the Microsoft Word executable.

You can then drag the icon into the start menu and drop it where you like.

Yeah of course, it was more of a stab at the slow support for XP64.

I've heard that x86 does actually allow unsigned drivers, whereas x64 does not.

how much did the upgrade cost and did you have to use the xp pro 64 to carry out the fresh install?
