XP Pro install BSODs

Just had a thought; This wouldn't be caused by an insufficient PSU?

The whole setup is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
Gainward ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)
Asus P5Q Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent ATX2 Power Supply
Hitachi Deskstar P7K500 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)
Asus TA-851 Silver/Black Midi Tower Case
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

should be able to handle it ok, but might be worth trying another

Thats a bit worrying. I don't think I can get my hands on a spare higher powered PSU for some time.

I shall try a few more tweaks in the bios for RAM voltages, but I don't think its going to work. Hopefully I can get a PSU. =/

After swapping out the HDD with another one, I was given another blue screen- this time it said something about ntfs.sys. the BSOD happened at the usual time.

I was also using a different disc to both previous setups.

I'm thinking this is maybe down to my mobo?

After coming to just about the end of my patience with this rig, I had a brainwave (read: my girlfriend suggested it). I put a single 2gb RAM stick into slot 2 instead of slot 1.

Hey presto. Works fine.

I thought I'd be bold and put the other stick into slot 4, and then the BSOD's begun again. Switched the one in slot 4 for slot 2 and took the one in slot 2out completely, and still BSOD's. Duff RAM stick. Will be calling OCUK to find out what the proceedure is for returning just half of an item (2x2gb sticks).

Thanks to all those that suggested solutions.

I think my friend can finally play FarCry 2 now. Heh.
