XP pro not registering sound card

hello all,

I've recently installed XP pro on my laptop but for some reason the onboard sound card is registered in device manager and doesn't play any sound.

I've tried to use the CD provided by my Laptop Manufacter but it can't install drivers cos they is "no MEIDA device found"

anyone got any ideas????

I'm gonna try the mancfacture website but i'm not hopefull.
