XP Pro Reinstall?

Dads be given a pc well 6 months ago. Recently the hdd has been clicking and causing the pc to crash.

He has no CD for it, however has a COA sticker, so how do i go about sorting it out?

Just wondering if i could copy the data onto another HDD would this work or would i need a special program to do it rather than copy and paste?

If not can i use any xp pro disc and install fresh on PC?

Provided the version you're installing is the same as the one on the COA (ie dont try install pro with a home key etc..) it'll be fine. Click of death doesn't sound good though, get important data backed up and do a clean install on a fresh HDD.

Stuff is already backed up, just have to find a disc!
