XP Pro SP2 and Device Manager

I have two accounts, the default administrator and a second account, both setup as administrators. Both in the administrators group and have been working.

System is working fine with no issues except when I go into device manager (right hand mouse button on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager) it tells me I do not have sufficent privillages and some options have been disabled?

I can view all hardware and view current driver installed but am unable to update driver?

Anyone else heard of this? Ive tried to google it to no avail.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Oh I attempted to setup a third admin account but this does the same thing?

Yeah I had that idea but it all says is "not configured" which is what I expected. I checked security options and these seem fine as i matched them across to another machine. Can you get a corrupted policy?

the information is stored in the registry

the registry can get corrupted so im guessing it can

try re-importing over the security policy from the other machine you checked and see if that does anything.

ps have you tryed the system "administrator" account, as opposed to the one you created yourself and called "Alf" or whatever.
 
Cheers MRLOL, I ported over the policy from machine b to machine a and it now works.
