XP problem after overclocking

I attempted an overclock but once windows booted up before it got to the User login screen it said something like:

"Registry file failed, recovered from backup successfully."

When I click OK my users didn't come up, so I reinstalled Windows via CD repair which fixed that but I now get registry related (I think) problems like AVG doesn't work. I can't run RegscrubXP either, it says it finds 400ish problems but doesn't list them or allow me to fix them.

I'm utterly confused and really don't want to format my hard-disk... any ideas?

Ah, I reinstalled AVG and it appears to be okay.

I'm guessing the Windows repair wiped part of the registry or conflicted files in someway?

EDIT: Yeh, getting loads of programs not working, like "(null) is not a valid Win32 Program" for Paint Shop Pro. RegScrubXP still doesn't work. Ventrillo says "Not enough quota is available to process this command." And loads more "not a valid Win32 program". ARGH! :( Some are fine though, seems 50/50 atm.

Overclocking can damage your windows install so its always a risk doing it, before you overclock further make sure you have essential files backed up.

The problems you are having are probably because of the repair on the XP install.

Everything fixed now!

I LOVE CCleaner, I did a scan 2812 registery problems, clicked fix and now every program works fine.

Was clocking a AMD 3500 Venice (100mhz killed it). Never doing it again, lol.
