Xp problems

i have recently had some new componets to upgrade my pc and i had to reinstall xp on to my computer, but i had toinstall windows 95 first then my xp, but i couldnt install 95 becasue it didnt have enough drives to support my new stuff so i lent a full copy of xp off a friend and i was wondering could i register it with my own serial number even tho my copy is only a upgrade, without getting both of our copys frozen by Microsoft plz help :confused:

i did try the 95 but it wouldnt work so ** saying i cant use te code on me m8s copy does each CDGenerate its own installation number or is it a standard thing

sorry it was 95 its was 98

man i cant type it wasnt 95, it was 98 i was using got the cd in frnt on me now

no my windows 98 CD is a full Copy not an upgarde i want to install xp which is an upgrade over the top of it

as i said before it can find the drive the screen thats it is on now say
Device driver not found: 'OEMCD001'
No Valid CDROM device drivers selected.
i was woundering could it be im using a DVD drive in stead of a CD drive or shouldnt it matter

no i starting by using the windows 98 cd but says no dirves found as i said in thepost before
im real getting confussed
