Hello all,

It's been a while since I've done anything really with regards to windows support, so a quick noob question.

There's a PC with XP Home installed on it, if I bung in an XP Pro disk will it give me the option to upgrade?

What issues are there with this?

I know ideally it would be better to wipe and reload but this isn't an option! :)

Many Thanks,
Jake

You sure? From googling around it looks like when you slip the disk in it gives you an upgrade option?

If you using an upgrade disk then yes I believe that you can do it from within Windows.( You will need a new Windows serial key BTW)
Why would you want to move to XP Pro?

remote desktop

This! :)

The client wants to remote into the PC but the PC in question is running XP Home!

Right, so I need to get hold of an upgrade disc, not just an upgrade one.

Thanks guys! :)

EDIT: More research says that as long as it's a retail copy of XP pro it'll upgrade, awesome

logmein is an awesome alternative too

(don't know how suitable it is, but it works well, and with xp home)

If it was my own machine I'd use 3rd party because it's easier but its a client so I'll just stick to windows.

Thanks though! :)
