Hi Every one,

this ight be a silly question, I will hopefully be doing a up grade in the early part of the new year. And was woundering is there a disk one can get from micro soft of hotfixes & updates which i can install directly on to my PC.
As I have a SATA I HD I have to install a silcon SCSI controll driver. Have Micro soft got a fix for this on their Op System XP pro along with force ASPI driver.
As it it will take an age to down load all the fixes from the update centre.

Plus I object to MS trying to install that Verification software. I have a legal copy of XP as I have to register it online.
Though when I did have a problem with XP, MS refuse to help me as I had an ilegal copy of XP Pro as it was an OEM version. I brought from here on OC !
What are MS like ! ! ! ! !

MS don't do that. You could use nLite and download the RyanVM update pack and integrate that into nLite. The RyanVM pack contains all the updates released for XP since SP2. If you haven't heard of nLite then search the forums here for info or look at the Guides section on the nLite site. Either way you should be able to work out how to use nLite.

Many thanks for that, you are right, I have not heard of nlite at all
I will have a look on the links you supplyed.
Many thanks for the info

Not sure about the illegal copy message but Microsoft have never supported OEM versions of Windows so they are correct in not helping.

Why will MS on support OEM ?
I was told that an OEM was a retail XP Pro, just with out the Retail box, manual, and wrapping !

OEM copies are supported by the retailer who bought the licence.

So if you built a PC for someone, used an OEM copy - You support Windows on that machine... Not Microsoft.

Or along those lines.
(Don't quote me! ^_^ )

Can I upgrade my OEM XP Pro to Retail Version ?
Or can I buy MS support ?

Short answer

No.

Should be able to get plenty of free support here though:)

Is is an amazing place the forum, though i still think MS are short changing people on the OS. As the vendor can not know a OS inside out.
The forums are great for shared knowledge & experiance.
Long live the forum !
