xp running well slow

things like opening a 70kb picture in windows viewer, it takes a good 2 mins to "generate preview", loading up takes 10mins, loading firefox takes 30 seconds and sometimes crashes, yet i have a conroe and 2gb of ram.........

Done defrag, theres no spyware or virii on the computer, nothing in the run part of the registry or msconfig.........

any ideas? :confused:
